BS 4-Year Programs

  1. BS 4-Year Program will consist of 8 semester carrying credit hours ranging from 124-136.
  2. Each semester shall be 4 ½ months duration (15 weeks for teaching, two weeks for conduct of examination and one week for the preparation of result).
  3. Students are required to attend regularly all the lectures, laboratory periods, semester sessions and the fields work as may be specifically required for each course. A maximum of 15% absence are allowed for undergraduate program and 25% for graduate programs. Deficiency, i.e. inability to pass a course on the basis of shortage of attendance, shall be treated as a failure in the course.
  4. Performance of students shall be evaluated through a system of continuous testing spreading over the entire period of studies. Besides the course examination, there shall be a number of tests and short quizzes. Moreover, the performance of students in class discussion, written assignment, research reports etc, shall be evaluated and form a part of their overall grades.
  5. The scripts of all examinations except final shall be shown to the students by the concerned teacher.
  6. The midterm examination shall normally be held after 8th week of class work from the commencement of the course. The final examination shall be held at the end of the semester.   
  7. Mid Term Examination Marks  = 30
  8. Final Term Examination Marks = 60
  9. Sessional Marks = 10
  10. Total Marks = 100
  11. Minimum Pass marks for promotion to next semester are 50% (C Grade).
  12. In view of the weightage for the various examination, home assignments, term papers, etc. the duration for various examination shall be as follow:-
  13. Midterm Examination                               atleast 90 minutes.
  14. Final Examination                                     atleast 2 hours.
  15. Sessional marks will be given on the basis of the following proposed criterion:
    1. Two Home assignments
    2. Class presentations
    3. Attendance
  16. In order to remain on the rolls of the department, a student has to continuously maintain “Good Standing” namely a satisfactory standard of attendance and academic performance, as well as of conduct and discipline.
  17. At the end of the first semester, a student must obtain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 to be promoted to the second semester.
  18. At the end of each semester, other than  1st Semester, a student must obtain a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 and must also pass at least 50% of the courses taken by him in the semester in order to be promoted to next semester, If any of the proceeding, two conditions are not compiled with by a student, he shall be removed from the rolls of the department.
